As a research methodology, phenomenology is uniquely positioned to help health professions education HPE scholars learn from the experiences of others. Although it is a powerful approach for inquiry, the nature of this methodology is often intimidating to HPE researchers. This article aims to explain phenomenology by reviewing the key philosophical and methodological differences between two of the major approaches to phenomenology: transcendental and hermeneutic. Understanding the ontological and epistemological assumptions underpinning these approaches is essential for successfully conducting phenomenological research. This review provides an introduction to phenomenology and demonstrates how it can be applied to HPE research. We illustrate the two main sub-types of phenomenology and detail their ontological, epistemological, and methodological differences.
Joan Caputo, 20, Troy, Michigan. I was referred to this website by my room-mate, as I needed some help with pending assignments due to a medical condition just before the submission dates. I had no time to ponder over choosing the right vendor, so went with my room-mates recommendation. I was very relieved to see a in-depth solution with valid points and sources. The referencing had no errors and they even mentioned page numbers... which i usually dont :( my bad. I did learn from the solution and I implement their approach whenever I can. Do mention about mid-review feature (which I could not use due ot lack of time), where you have to pay only half of the order price at the time of placing the order... cool feature. A tip from my friend. I would request the website owners to accept payment through bank transfers as many students may not have a credit card with them. Thanks! Cheers!

Phenomenology is the study of structures of consciousness as experienced from the first-person point of view. The central structure of an experience is its intentionality, its being directed toward something, as it is an experience of or about some object. An experience is directed toward an object by virtue of its content or meaning which represents the object together with appropriate enabling conditions. Phenomenology as a discipline is distinct from but related to other key disciplines in philosophy, such as ontology, epistemology, logic, and ethics. Phenomenology has been practiced in various guises for centuries, but it came into its own in the early 20th century in the works of Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, Merleau-Ponty and others.
